Working together to safeguard children

We turned complex safeguarding guidance into clear and empowering resources for children and young people.

The challenge

The statutory guidance on safeguarding children is a complex document aimed at professionals. We were asked to produce an accessible and engaging version specifically for children and young people, helping them grasp how safeguarding works and what support is available to them. It had to use language they could understand, without oversimplifying key messages or missing vital context. And, as written information isn’t always the best way to reach this audience, we also needed to create a reassuring animation presenting the serious topic in a way that felt age-appropriate, inclusive and easy to understand.

Our solution

We worked closely with children’s services and young people to create simplified guidance that breaks down complicated safeguarding structures into clear explanations. It includes real-life examples, friendly illustrations and a helpful glossary. Complementing the guidance, our animation uses a calm, friendly voiceover and inclusive visuals to introduce key safeguarding ideas, with relatable examples of when a young person might need support – at home, in relationships or in their community. Together, the final products empower young people with knowledge about their rights and what to do if they ever feel unsafe.
